As the gender pay gap in the U.K. is a big issue, Apple has been talking about how it pays men and women. Apple is transparent on its values for equality regardless of gender, race or religion. However, Apple has been getting ahead of its values and paying men more than women.
“Reuters reports that male Apple employees in the U.K. get paid 5 percent more than women on average. It does say that the median pay for women was 2 percent higher than men, though.”
As mentioned in the opening of this article, the U.K. government announced that it required companies to report their gender pay gaps. “Apple says that the gap is due to more male engineers in top-tier positions than women, which leads to higher pay, raises, and stock.”
As you can see Apple needs to do some work here to make sure that they are sticking to their highly touted values as a company.
