Improvement to Adobe apps
A new file format developed with Pixar which is optimized for sharing files with the USDZ format. Allows for 3D objects to be placed into the real world. This would be powered by AR. There is now native support for new USDZ file format in Adobe Creative Cloud. This means that you will be able to edit a file on our computer, save it to your Adobe account or Google Drive and then access the same files in the same format without any issues on your Apple devices.
New ‘Measure’ app
A new app called “Measure” was announced for AR- Capable Devices, which are the iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X. The new app can automatically detect dimensions of objects and measure automatically. This can help speed up scanning for objects inside a room. A 3D AR object can now be embedded into a web page within Safari. AR experiences and activities can now be shared in iOS 12.
Improved AR
ARKit 2 advances with improved face tracking, realistic rendering, 3D object detection, and more. A Demo of these advances in ARKit 2 was shown on the stage when this feature was being announced. There will be common perspective on a shared virtual environment. The Demo app showed a table with wooden toys, complete with slingshots that players can shoot objects at each other and knock the toys over. This looked very cool and intuitive. iOS 12 successfully combines digital elements and physical elements together to give a wonderful experience.
