Apple re-releases watchOS 5 beta 1, after withdrawing last week’s build due to issues

Apple has re-issued watchOS 5 beta 1 after pulling it shortly after it being released on Monday. On the Apple Developer portal up until today, Apple said that watchOS 5 Beta 1 is “temporarily unavailable” as the company removed the download link from the developer portal.

Seed 1 of watchOS 5 is temporarily unavailable. We are investigating an issue that occurs while updating. If you’ve experienced any issues, please contact AppleCare.

About the Issue:

The issue caused some Apple Watch models to become ‘bricked’, which means totally unusable. If you plan to test this version or any other version of watchOS 5. Take into consideration that there’s no going back. Once you’re on that beta build there is no rolling back without sending your watch off to Apple.

New Features:

Apple introduced new features such as Activity Challenges and Walkie-Talkie which was not functional in beta 1 anyway. You can read the full list of changes that are coming to watchOS 5 here.
