Where to Buy CD’s with Apple Pay

Avatar for David Becker

As of today, stores like Best Buy and Target are no longer going to be bringing in and selling CDs in their stores. The reason for this is that CD sales have been declining significantly over the years and that music streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify and becoming more and more popular each year.

With all of that said, Best Buy and Target (in Target’s app) are both big Apple Pay accepters and have been selling CDs for years. However, according to an article from The Verge, this decision was made back in early-2018.

Best Buy does still plan to sell vinyl albums for at least the next two years. It could be based on how sales numbers go to see whether or not the company will continue to sell them post-2020.

Target does still plan to sell some CDs, but only for the ones that they have actually sold in their stores. Previously, their agreement with record labels was that they would have to pay for a pallet-like amount of CDs and pay for the whole thing, regardless of whether or not all of the CDs were sold.

So, where can you still buy CDs in stores using Apple Pay? Check the list below:

  • Shopko
  • Goodwill
  • FYE
  • Barnes and Noble
  • Books-A-Million

These are just some of the still many businesses and companies that will be selling CDs in their stores. Note that Best Buy and Target will still be selling them on their websites and apps where users can still pay with Apple Pay.

Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments below if there are other national businesses and retailers that both accept Apple Pay and sell traditional CDs.
