Redbox looks to be updating some of their kiosks with NFC, meaning that the kiosks that have NFC enabled can take and accept Apple Pay.

This was shown by Reddit user @tytygh1010, who posted a picture to the Apple Pay subreddit, that shows a Redbox kiosk that has a new card reader that accepts NFC payments.

Redbox has not announced or said anything about their boxes accepting Apple Pay, but it could be something to notice this summer and throughout 2019.

Their Twitter account insinuated towards it again yesterday with the comment “[w]e have a feeling that contactless payment will be here sooner than you think ☺️”

I spotted a kiosk this afternoon with a new NFC reader…

Really hope they’re not limiting themselves to just Apple Pay… Seriously, why? They’d reach a FAR larger audience with Google Pay as many more people have Android devices than Apple devices…
