Review: CARROT Weather Tier 3

CARROT Weather has become my favorite weather app over the last couple of years. Yes, it costs money, but at the same time, it has the most accurate weather forecasts and radar I have ever seen. The humor in the app is pretty great too.

When it was announced that CARROT was changing the way they were doing notifications and subscriptions, I was intrigued since I was wondering how a great app could get even better?

Once again, the app certainly surprised me.

The first thing that I like about Tier 3 is that it has lightning strike notifications. I like being notified when there is lightning in the area, especially if I am at work. It’s a good distraction from it and gives me an idea when a storm is going to be coming to me.

I have seen and had local weather apps that have similar features, but not near as close and accurate as CARROT.

Another cool feature of Tier 3 is that it gives you a notification reminder if you need sunscreen that day if the sun is going to be out for long, bringing the hot weather. It’s simple, yes. However, it can make your life easier, especially when traveling. The same can also be said for its precipitation alerts too.

Tier 3 brings a radar to the Apple Watch too. Again, this can be handy for me when I am at work or even at church when I cannot whip out my iPhone. CARROT on the Apple Watch will let me see the radar and also see if storms are in the area (on top of the alerts that also show on it too).

You get more data sources in Tier 3 too, making it possible to get even better accurate weather.

CARROT Weather’s Tier 3 does cost $7.99 a month or $24.99 a year. It might sound like a lot to pay for a weather app, but it truly is one of the best premium third-party weather apps in the App Store. I’d rate Tier 3 with 4/4 stars.

It does more than what I need it to do. It might sound like a lot of money for a premium weather app, but you can either pay for it or you can get the ads that others use to pay for it.

Rating: 4/4 stars
