It seems like Jony Ive has officially left Apple as his name has been removed from Apple’s leadership page
Jony Ive has been associated with Apple since 1992 and led the design team from 1996. His design innovation in Apple products has been ground-breaking. He has also done a great job in designing the Apple Park, Apple Stores and also iOS 7, on which today’s iOS version is originally based upon.
Apple had announced in its press release about Jony Ive’s departure from Apple in June. The press release said that he will be leaving “later this year”. “Jony is a singular figure in the design world and his role in Apple’s revival cannot be overstated, from 1998’s groundbreaking iMac to the iPhone and the unprecedented ambition of Apple Park, where recently he has been putting so much of his energy and care,”- according to Tim Cook, Apple.
Mr. Ive is creating his own firm named LoveFrom along with Marc Newson and Apple will be their primary client. So Apple will still be availing from Jony Ive’s wonderful designs.
“Apple will continue to benefit from Jony’s talents by working directly with him on exclusive projects, and through the ongoing work of the brilliant and passionate design team he has built. After so many years working closely together, I’m happy that our relationship continues to evolve and I look forward to working with Jony long into the future.”- Apple’s press release.
Even though he is leaving Apple, he will still be a part of the designs of Apple products as Apple will be their primary client.
