The mix of genres and the creativity of the tune, as well as the odd but satisfying melody of “Old Town Road” has earned it the title of 2019’s most-played song. Lil Nas X portrayed different aspects of his life, as well as the ever-growing “meme culture” into a song that is sure to define this year and the sensation it generated for future generations. This, besides turning him into an overnight sensation, has earned him the Song of the Year award at the Apple Music Awards.
Apple and the Apple Music team announced an exciting presentation for the inaugural Apple Awards. Billie Eilish will perform at the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park on December 4 at 6:30 p.m. PST. This presentation will be streamed online by Apple at the time of the performance.
Apple has also designed a truly remarkable award for these categories. These were designed carefully to represent the outstanding craftsmanship and delicacy at creating the songs that rocked 2019. The award is made out of a 12-inch disc of silicon with copper layers that are deposited and patterned by ultraviolet litography. This all sits on an anodized aluminum body, presenting the characteristic look of an Apple product.
From the start, with the iPod and iTunes, all the way with Apple Music, Apple has acknowledged and increased the impact music has in our lives, and to see them celebrate creators in such way is truly remarkable.
