This is the last weekend before Christmas and with that said, all of our TV show and movie picks for the week will be Christmas-related. It is the season after all!

TV:

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas: This is a beloved Christmas special that has been on TV for decades. With that said, the ABC app does have the special available for free that will work on devices like the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. It will include ads, so be prepared for that. If you want to watch it without ads, you can do so by buying it from the Apple TV app for $9.99 or renting it from the same app for $3.99.

  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966): This one, again, is an instant classic that I have been watching probably since the first Christmas I was alive. Right now, the best way to stream this is through the TBS and TNT apps that have it available on their on-demand. You will have to type in your TV provider credentials in order to watch it through those apps, though. It can also be purchased for $9.99 through the Apple TV app.

  • Doctor Who Christmas specials marathon: BBC America will be airing a marathon of Doctor Who specials on Christmas Day. The marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. ET and will be going on until 3:35 a.m. ET on the day after Christmas (compensating for those on the west coast).

  • Bonus: Last Man Standing (“The Gift of the Mike Guy”): FOX will be airing this Last Man Standing Christmas special from last year at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, December 22. We recommend this special because, given the week that Americans had this week with the impeachment of the Donald Trump, we think that a great family show such as LMS will be great to watch as we enter the week of Christmas.

Movies:

  • The Santa Claus films: All of these films can be streamed on Disney+. This weekend is a great excuse to watch them too, especially if you have all of your Christmas shopping done for the year.

  • Die Hard: It is a Christmas movie, after all. At least that’s what some people say now. The movie can be streamed for free (with ads) through Crackle and will be aired on Pop and MTV throughout this upcoming weekend and into the week of Christmas because of the national holiday.

  • A Christmas Story: TBS will be carrying on its tradition of showing this movie on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day non-stop. The movie will begin airing at 8 p.m. ET on Christmas Eve and air until 6 p.m. ET on Christmas Day.

Sports:

  • #19 Boise State vs Washington (College Football): This is for the Camellia Bowl that will be played at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 21, on ABC. Click here to find out how to stream the game.

  • Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings: One of the biggest rivalries in NFL history is having another game next week. The game will be at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday, December 23, on ESPN. To find out how to stream the game, click here.

  • NBA Christmas Day marathon: There are going to be a plethora of NBA games on Christmas Day on ABC and ESPN. The first game tips-off at 12 p.m. on December 25, on ESPN. Click here to see the schedule of games on that day and what network will be showing them.
