It has now been reported that Apple will be pulling out of the SXSW conference this year because of coronavirus.
SXSW 2020 is set to take place between March 13-22, 2020, and will be hosted in Austin, Texas.
Apple is not the only company to have pulled out of the event this year. Along with them, Amazon, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter and Intel have all said that they will not be attending the conference this year because of the coronavirus outbreak.
There was set to be three new Apple TV+ originals that were “Central Park” (animated series), the “Beastie Boys Story” and “Home” (docuseries).
At this time, despite public suggestions, there are no current plans to cancel this year’s SXSW conference.
Mark Escott, the interim medical director and health authority for Austin Public Health said this about the lack of cancellation of SXSW 2020, according to CNN.
“Right now there’s no evidence that closing South by Southwest or other activities is going to make this community safer…we’re constantly monitoring that situation.”
