Blackmagic informed MacRumors today that it is no longer manufacturing its eGPU Pro. This is due to AMD discontinuing its Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics chip.

The Blackmagic eGPU Pro was priced at $1,199 and came out in October 2018 with the refreshed MacBook Air and Mac Mini models.

Earlier this week, Apple removed the eGPU Pro as it has been temporarily out of stock for sometime. MacRumors notes that the standard Blackmagic eGPU with AMD Radeon Pro 580 graphics remains available to purchase for the time being, but with a “lengthy shipping estimate of 10-12 weeks”.
