Today, at WWDC 2020, a brief amount of new features have been announced for tvOS, which reinvent the way users interact with their Apple TV.
Alongside with the recently changes to the Home ecosystem that Apple has been developing in the last few years, a new doorbell feature has been added to tvOS. Now, whenever a compatible smart doorbell detects someone outside your house, you will get a picture-in-picture notification on your TV.
Last year, Apple introduced their new gaming service, Apple Arcade. This revolutionized the way people play games across all of their Apple devices, and tvOS is not an exception. Now, multi-user support is now available for Apple Arcade games, so everyone in the family can play their games just where they left them off. Also, support for Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Controller 2 and Adaptive Controller is now featured on tvOS 14.
The main purpose of Apple TV is to complement the already great video experience on Apple devices. Now, with the introduction of picture-in-picture across iOS and iPadOS, the Apple TV has also added this feature for different use cases, such as work-outs and watching AirPlay Content
Alongside this, there will be a new update to AirPlay on tvOS 14. Users will now be able to stream 4K video from their iOS and iPadOS devices directly to their TV, pushing the Apple TV its full potential.
Even though these are really small changes, they will completely revolutionize the way thousands of users engage with their Apple TV, making it the go-to device for entertainment at home.
