Apple today has released watchOS 6.2.8 to Apple Watch Series 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This update includes a new CarKey feature which is also available on the ‌iPhone‌ with iOS 13.6.

Car Key is a new feature designed to allow an ‌iPhone‌ or an ‌Apple Watch‌ to be used in lieu of a physical key to unlock an NFC-enabled vehicle. Apple revealed this feature at WWDC 2020 in June.

This update also brings ECG app support to new countries such as South Africa, Brazil, and Bahrain. Irregular heart rhythm notifications will also be coming to these new countries.

Apple notes this update also includes bug fixes and improvements.

– Adds support for digital car keys for ‌Apple Watch‌ Series 5
– ECG app on ‌Apple Watch‌ Series 4 or later now available in Bahrain, Brazil, and South Africa
– Irregular heart rhythm notifications now available in Bahrain, Brazil, and South Africa
