Following the introduction of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models, Apple has confirmed that iPhone 11, XR, and SE will no longer ship free EarPods or power adapters in the box.
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives, said that Apple will be removing the power adapter and EarPods from the iPhone box, in order to reduce carbon emissions, resulting in smaller and lighter packaging, and allows for 70 percent more boxes to be produced and shipped.
Jackson said at today’s event that millions of EarPods and chargers have been provided to users for free and exchanged between one another, or are still being used today, this in result, making the option of giving more to customers an unnecessary step.
In addition to the aforementioned change, Apple claims that iPhone 12 Pro models are made from 100% recycled rare earth elements in all the magnets and also in the new camera, Taptic Engine, and MagSafe including its accessories.
