Apple is working on a new Apple TV with a built-in camera and speakers, according to a new report.
According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is developing a new Apple TV that houses a camera and a HomePod-like speaker system.
Another product in the works is a new smart speaker with a display, much like the Google Nest Hub or Amazon Echo Show, possibly looking like an iPad with HomePod speakers.
The new Apple TV would be the latest version since 2017’s Apple TV 4K, and as the current-gen, it will offer features like streaming services and games, but will have a much better sound system, almost like a soundbar. The camera’s use would likely be for video calling like FaceTime.
As for the new smart speaker, it will function like Google’s Nest Hub or Amazon’s Echo Show, a speaker with a display and a voice assistant (being Siri), with similar features found on the rumored new Apple TV.
Bloomberg is stating that in 2020 Apple integrated its HomePod and Apple TV facilities, resulting in developing products like those rumored. Cupertino have been holding back with their smart home products recently, after having discontinued the original HomePod, and leaving the Apple TV 4K without an update for 4 years.
New speculation is however teasing a new Apple TV 4K with 120Hz and an A12X chip.
