Day One Journal is going to be changing thanks to a recent acquisition.
Yesterday, Day One was acquired by Automattic, which also owns Tumblr and is a part of WordPress. The app is now in Automattic’s embedded apps now and the plan is to integrate it into other parts of the company.
While the price of the acquisition has not been said, it has been said Day One has been self-funded for most of its years in existence.
Day One has been downloaded over 15 million times and has been known for its great design for iOS, iPadOS and macOS devices. The app has become a go-to for many users across the world to be their place to journal.
The app has won multiple awards over the years too such as the Apple Design Award, App of the Year and has been an App Store Editor’s Choice.
Day One is available in the iOS and iPadOS App Stores, and the Mac App Store. The app does have in-app purchases that start at $3.99 a month.
You can read our iOS and iPadOS app review of the app and its macOS version too.
