Here’s what you need to know about the iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 mini:
Display & Design:
The iPhone 13 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR Display with a 2532”‘by”‘1170-pixel resolution at 460 ppi. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini offer up to 800 nits of Brightness (typical) and the number bumps up to 1200 nits while watching HDR content. The Display on these new models also has Ceramic Sheild, introduced with the iPhone 12 Series last year. Both these newly announced iPhones have IP68 water resistance of a maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes.
Performance & Battery:
The iPhone 13 & the iPhone 13 mini are powered by the performance beast, the A15 Bionic Chip, which is the same chip used to power the newly announced iPad mini (5th generation). The 5nm A15 Bionic chip has a new 6-Core CPU, out of which 2 are high-performance cores, and the other 4 are high-efficiency cores. It has nearly 15 billion transistors and can perform 15.8 trillion operations in a second. Apple says that they’ve increased the CPU performance of the Machine Learning Accelerator used by functions like Advance Text-to-Speech, Siri, and On-Device Processing of Directions in Maps. Apple claims that the A15 Bionic is the fastest chip in any smartphone ever, offering up to 50% faster CPU than the competition. It also has a 4-core GPU, offering up to 30% faster Graphics than the competition. Your games can now run with better visuals with this technology. Machine Learning has also been taken to the next level with the new 16-core Neural Engine. It introduces a new level for Image Processing and Video for experiences like Live Text, now faster on the A15 Bionic chip. The iPhone 13 offers up to 2.5 hours more battery life than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 mini offers up to 1.5 hours more battery life than the iPhone 12 mini.
Camera:
The iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 mini offer a Diagonal Dual Camera System, with a Wide and an Ultra-Wide lens. The new Wide Camera now has a 1.7μm sensor, allowing the camera to capture 47% more light, making low-light photography even better. The wide camera now has f/1.6 aperture, making it the biggest sensor Apple has ever put in a dual-camera system. Sensor-Shift Optical Image Stabilization, introduced with the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year, has made its way to the entire iPhone 13 lineup. Capture times have been reduced too. Apple has bumped up the frame rate for 4K Dolby Vision recording to 60 fps from 30fps with the iPhone 12 series last year.
Apple also introduced two new features:

You can choose Vibrant to make your photos look bright and vivid or Rich Contrast for darker shadows and deeper colors or Warm/Cool to accentuate golden or blue undertones. You can adjust the warmth and tone of a Photographic Style live. It’s just like editing a photo while capturing it! This feature is supported on both the front and rear cameras.
2. “Cinematic Mode”, lets you change the focus between people, pets, and objects with a beautiful depth effect, just like the movies so anyone can cinema-style moments. Moreover, it changes focus automatically between subjects. For example, if there are two people, pets, or objects in the frame, and one person or pet looks at the other person, pet, or object, the focus shifts automatically. The focus is back on the main subject when the person looks away from the other person, pet, or object, or speaks. This feature supports up to 1080p at 30 fps on both the front and rear cameras.
Connectivity:
The iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 mini offer superfast 5G Connectivity with mmWave Technology (mmWave only in select regions). It offers 21 sub”‘6 GHz bands and 3 mmWave bands on the U.S Models because of the customized hardware design. This will help in better & wider 5G Coverage throughout the globe. The iPhone 13 series will also feature “Smart Data Mode” which will switch between 5G and 4G/LTE to preserve battery life. iPhone will automatically switch to the 5G Network when required. Apple says that by the end of 2021, iPhone will support over 200 carriers worldwide in 60 countries.
MagSafe Updates:
MagSafe Technology was introduced with the iPhone 12 series last year. The iPhones have magnets on the back which allows many accessories to connect with just a snap. One of the popular accessories, “MagSafe Leather Wallet with MagSafe” has received an update. It now works with the Find My Application on your iPhone to help you locate it when it’s lost. The iPhone 13 series uses 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in magnets like the ones used in MagSafe, 100 percent recycled tin in the solder of the main logic board, and, for the first time, in the solder of the battery management unit. Both models also use 100 percent recycled gold in the plating of the main logic board and the wire in the front camera and rear cameras. Apple has also eliminated the outer plastic wrap and redesigned the packaging, avoiding the usage of 600 metric tons of plastic ultimately bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from all packaging by 2025.
