Last month, I wrote an article here that basically stated that one of my New Year’s Resolutions this year (or at least one that I would make public) was to do more entries in my Day One Journal.
I have been using Day One since I was at my community college and it has allowed me over the years to write down what is going on in my life as a form of remembrance and therapy. Every good day, every bad day.
I can say that while I did not get as many entries as I wanted to for the first month, I still have plans to write more. I may not have been perfect or written every day or every other day, but the point is to simply write more.
The good news is that I did write more last month than I did in December 2021, so right there, that is progress in my eyes. Not a lot, but progress nonetheless, and that is what I am going for.
One thing that I do is whenever I go to work (because I do have a full-time job outside of Appleosophy), I bring my MacBook Pro with me so if I do feel like journaling on my break later, I can do it. Given the stresses that a job can bring daily, sometimes writing about life can decompress you and make you feel a little better so when it’s to head back, you go back with a clearer head.
As much as I would like to just use a device like an iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard to do that, I currently do not possess them and do not feel like spending the money to purchase either one of them at this time.
Another part of my entries that I do my best to do is I try to include photos because even though words and writing do tell the story, pictures can be a great way to see what you saw back then, especially if you are going through entries the people go through photo albums. For so long, most of my entries did not have photos in them, so now that I am adding them to my entries, I feel like they are better.
I hope to do even more writing in this new month. The goal is to always be improving in some way, shape or form with this resolution.
