A new Spotify Hifi Plan may have been leaked, as a Spotify user intending to leave the service got an offer to join a “Platinum Plan”, according to 9to5Mac. This comes about 2 years after Spotify announced that they would be launching a new Hifi tier for their users. It has now been over a year since Apple Music debuted its lossless tier.
“I received a survey from Spotify today after canceling Spotify Premium for Apple Music after 10 years with Spotify. The survey shared with me details of Spotify’s upcoming subscription tiers available and asked if I would switch back “in the next 30 days” for one of these features.”
What could this new plan have in store for users? Rumors point to a price of $19.99 per month for 1 account. Families will likely have to pay more. This is similar to the pricing of Netflix’s highest tiers.
Some of the features available in this plan could be:
- Everything included with Spotify Individual
- High Fidelity Audio
- Headphone Tuner
- Audio Insights
- Library Pro
- Playlist Pro
- Limited-ad Spotify Podcasts
It’s not certain what all of these perks could entail, but it seems that Spotify might have an intention to simply ramp up the price of its service and entice more users to use this more expensive tier. This is unlike Apple Music where lossless and spatial audio is included in the standard plan for free.
