This morning, Apple officially announced its brand new second-generation HomePod.

Staying consistent with its previous design with the first-generation model, the company announced this morning that the new HomePod will cost $299. Pre-orders for it begin today and will be released to the public on Friday, February 3. It will be available in black and white colors.

It will be launching in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK, and 11 additional countries.

The HomePod itself has been improved to the point where it will be able to detect when a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm is in the home, check the temperature of the home, and the humidity too.

Apple discontinued the original HomePod in March 2021, with the company having released the first HomePod Mini in November 2020. Since then, Apple has released updated versions of the HomePod Mini, giving it multiple new colors as well.
