Apple Watch app Chirp for Twitter has officially been shut down

This year has been the year of many deaths in the ongoing war on third-party apps.

The first ones to go this year were third-party Twitter apps such as Tweetbot and Twitterrific, and others. By June 2023, the death of these types of apps expanded over to Reddit, where as of July 1, third-party Reddit apps like Apollo were also shut down by their respected developers.

Now, as of today, the Chirp for Twitter, which was a third-party Twitter app that enabled you to view Twitter on your Apple Watch is now also dead.

The developer of Chirp, Will Bishop confirmed this in a tweet this evening and that the app will be removed from the App Store “later today.”

Due to this app being shut down, there are no ways at this time to access Twitter on your Apple Watch. Twitter used to have its own Apple Watch app, but that app was quietly shut down back in 2017.
