The moment is here, everyone! Yesterday, Apple announced the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max with several new changes and improvements at its “Wonderlust” event.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, powered by last year’s A16 Bionic chip feature a brighter 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR Display, and they now come with the Dynamic Island, first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro series last year along with a new 48MP Main Camera that enables super-high-resolution photos. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models on the other hand are powered by the new A17 Pro chip and feature the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look. The limelight falls on the new Action Button and the new aerospace-grade titanium design which is both strong and lightweight. The Cameras have received a significant upgrade in this year’s iPhone lineup. Photos taken on the new iPhone 15 series will be 24MP by default for super-high-resolution photos. Due to the new 48MP Main lens on the iPhone 15, it also features a 2x lossless zoom option. The ability to switch between three popular focal lengths ”“ 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm has been added to the Pro lineup along with support for 48MP HEIF Images. While the iPhone 15 Pro has 3x Optical Zoom with the Telephoto lens, the iPhone 15 Pro Max takes it to the next level and introduces a new Telephoto camera with a tetraprism design for a 5x Optical Zoom option at 120mm. Apple claims that the new Camera System of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is “equivalent of seven pro lenses”.
When it comes to packaging, the box of the iPhone 15 lineup contains the iPhone itself along with a Braided USB-C to USB-C Cable in White. The new Braided cables in the iPhone 15 box are not color-matched as previously rumored but only come in White. Color-matched cables are not sold separately either as of now. Few iPad models such as the iPad Pro and the base iPad (10th generation) also come with the same Braided USB-C to USB-C cable. However, the iPad Air and iPad mini do not come with a Braided USB-C to USB-C Cable but rather come with the regular ones even though they both have a USB-C Port.
Apple started shipping Braided MagSafe Cables with MacBook models in 2021, and now it seems that they’re expanding it to the iPhones as well. No more fraying cables!
It’s like a dream come true, don’t you agree?
Apple also sells 1-meter, 1.8-meter, and 3-meter Braided Thunderbolt 4 Pro cables in Black, either of which need to be purchased separately to take advantage of the iPhone 15 Pro’s USB 3.1 transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s.
The iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Plus will be available in five new finishes ”“ Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Black. The iPhone 15 starts at $799 for 128GB, $899 for the 256GB variant, and $1,099 for the 512GB variant with special offers from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Without the offers from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, the 128GB variant costs $829, the 256GB variant costs $929, and the 512GB variant costs $1,129. The iPhone 15 Plus starts at $899 for the 128GB base variant, $999 for the 256GB variant, and $1,199 for the 512GB variant with special offers from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Without the offers from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, the 128GB variant costs $929, the 256GB variant costs $1,029, and the 512GB variant costs $1,229.
Meanwhile, the new iPhone 15 Pro models will be available in four elegant finishes ”“ Black titanium, White titanium, Blue titanium, and Natural titanium finishes. The iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB variant, $1,099 for the 256GB variant, $1,299 for the 512GB variant, and $1,499 for the 1TB variant. The larger Pro Max with improved zoom capabilities starts at $1,199 for the 256GB variant, $1,399 for the 512GB variant, and $1,599 for the 1TB variant. Notably, the base variant of the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $100 more than last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, which costed $1,099 — but it also comes with 256GB of base storage, so it is not really a price increase but rather the elimination of the 128GB variant. The entire iPhone 15 lineup will be available to Pre-order on September 15th starting at 5 a.m. PDT and they will be available starting September 22nd.
