Last weekend, I had the privilege of acquiring the brand new iPhone 15 Plus in black at my local Apple Store, and with that came a new case.

Ever since I got my first iPhone, which was the iPhone 4S, I have always made sure to get an OtterBox case. I have also historically gotten the Defender series of OtterBox cases, but on occasion have used the OtterBox Symmetry case for both my iPhone 4S and iPhone 8 Plus.

The reason for always going with the OtterBox brand of case is very simple; The cases protect my iPhones and are cheaper than phone insurance or AppleCare+.

As for this OtterBox Defender XT case in particular, I really like that OtterBox has found a way to protect the phone and all its beauty, while also showcasing at least some of that beauty, particularly with having the clear hard plastic on the rear that will show off the backside of my iPhone 15 Plus.

Like usual, the outer silicon casing is not only nice if I have to drop the phone, but it makes it much easier to grip. In fact, that is another reason I buy the OtterBox cases is I have found that a case-less iPhone is quite hard to grip, therefore, is easier to slip out of my hands and crack or be damaged in some way.

You would think that since OtterBox Defender cases of any kind are so durable, you’d have to make sacrifices like no wirelesss charging. With the Defender XT, that is not the case. Users would still be able to put their iPhone on a wireless charging pad/device and charge their device wirelessly. That includes MagSafe charging too.

While I do enjoy the look of the case, how well it protects my iPhone 15 Plus, and how it still showcases the backside of it, it does have one issue.

The only issue with the case is that it doesn’t really come with a screen protector. It came with this plastic part that goes around the front of the screen, and I believe locks the phone into the case, which is fine. However, I would appreciate it if the extra plastic part had some sort of plastic screen protector on it because, well,  you never know.

In the end, this is a good case to get for your iPhone 15 Plus, as well as if you have the iPhone 14 Plus. It will surely protect your device, and make it so it will be hard to drop your device out of your hands.

With that said, it earns 3/4 stars from me and loses one star due to the lack of a plastic screen protector. It’s a Defender series product and last I checked, I believe the screen is part of the device that needs to be protected.

The case itself currently costs $69.95 through OtterBox but can be purchased through local retailers such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.

Rating: 3/4 stars
