Apple has started rolling out iOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 to the public with bug fixes and security improvements. These updates come a little over a week after the release of iOS 17.2 and macOS Sonoma 14.2 which came with several new changes as well as important security updates. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every update whilst also fixing security issues.

According to the release notes, “This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.”

In addition to iOS 17.2.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, Apple has also released iOS 16.7.4, and iPadOS 16.7.4 for older devices with bug fixes and security improvements. Some of the oldest supported devices are the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, along with the iPad Pro (1st generation). Apple ended support for these devices with iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. However, it is simply amazing to see them provide security updates till date for devices that are up to 8 years old, making Apple a clear winner in terms of Security & Software updates. Interestingly, Apple hasn’t yet released iPadOS 17.2.1 to the public.

It is highly recommended to update your iPhone, iPad, and Mac to the latest software for the best experience and the best security. Which version are you currently running?
