It has been confirmed now that Apple will be closing one of its stores in Hawaii early next year.
Island News reported in November that Apple Royal Hawaiian in Honolulu, Hawaii will be closing its doors permanently on Saturday, January 20. The store has been open at that location for 15 years and originally opened in September 2008.
Employees that are currently working at the store, which includes 57 employees both full-time and part-time, have been offered jobs and positions at Apple’s two other retail stores in Honolulu.
The reason for the store closing has been reported to be just that Apple “evaluates its retail footprint to ensure it is in the best possible position to provide support for its customers. And it has determined it’s time to close this particular location,” according to Island News.
