Hallmark Movies Now will become Hallmark+ this fall

Avatar for David Becker

This might be news to some people but Hallmark does indeed have its own streaming service called “Hallmark Movies Now.” Well, that is until this fall comes.

Starting in September, the streaming service will be rebranded as “Hallmark+” and come with a price increase but still keep its programming on it ad-free.

Hallmark Movies Now currently costs $5.99 a month and once the transition to Hallmark+ has commenced, the price will change to $7.99 a month.

Additionally, Hallmark+ will come with a membership that will have exclusive perks such as monthly $5 Hallmark Gold Crown Store coupons, unlimited free eCards, rewards from shopping and purchases, and other surprise gifts.

The current launch date for this transition will be sometime in mid-September. It is unknown if the streaming service will still include either its in-app subscription purchase options that are currently available in the Hallmark Movies Now app or have the Hallmark Movies Now channel on Apple TV Channels be updated with the new Hallmark+ once it launches.

Mike Perry, CEO and president of Hallmark said this is big move for the company, but one that it believes is the right time to do so.

“Hallmark+ marks a seminal moment for Hallmark,” he said. “By intertwining new, rich content experiences with tangible rewards and premium Hallmark gifts, we are delivering a unique, new program that reflects our commitment to spreading joy through our deeply beloved brand touchpoints.”

The change will be a pivotal one as Hallmark typically starts its Countdown to Christmas original movies in late-October each year, which are quite popular with its core audience.
