Yesterday, Target announced that its iOS app had been updated with support and integration with CarPlay, Apple’s in-car dashboard system.
When the app will mostly be used will be for those who use the Target Drive-Up service on mobile orders. The company also says it is “the first retailer to offer guests the ability to navigate to a store for a curbside order through CarPlay.”
In order to use the feature, customers must place an order through the Target app and then once they have connected their iPhone to their CarPlay-enabled vehicle, the Target app will appear and show which store the customer placed their order through, directions to said store, order details, and the ability to notify the store and let them know when customers are on the way or have arrived to pick up their order.
Down below you can see CarPlay screenshots on how all of this works and looks.
Mark Schindele, Chief Stores Officer at Target, said this new tech will be excellent for both stores and the customers.
“The introduction of the Drive Up feature in the Target app with Apple CarPlay is a win for our guests and a win for our team as we make it even easier to find a store and complete your Target run,” he said. “No matter how guests choose to shop with us ”” in store, online or using our same-day services ”” they can expect us to deliver innovative touches that make everyday moments even better.”
