Apple has started to roll out a major new update for the AirPods Pro 2 to all users globally for both the Lightning and USB-C variants. The software goes up from 6F8 to 7A294, introducing a couple of thoughtful features to your AirPods.

Version 7 has been in beta since its announcement at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference, which took place in June of this year. Other announcements from WWDC 2024 include iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2.0.

What’s New with AirPods Pro 2?

  • Voice Isolation: Suppose you’re in a noisy environment or its too windy, the person on the other end of the call might not be able to hear you clearly. Voice Isolation is here to fix just that. It isolates your voice from the background and enhances it to add quality to your conversation.
  • Siri Interactions: Ever felt weird when someone gives you a call and you hear the announcement on your AirPods and then asl Siri to “Answer” or “Decline” in front of a bunch of people? Well, Apple thought of an innovative way to make your AirPods Pro 2 more convenient and private. According to Apple, “AirPods Pro users will be able to simply nod their head yes or gently shake their head no to respond to Siri announcements, which is particularly helpful in crowded or quiet areas where they may not want to speak out loud. Enabled by machine learning on the H2 chip, Siri Interactions allow users to answer or dismiss calls, interact with messages, manage notifications, and so much more ”” all without speaking.”

This update should be installed automatically when your iPhone and AirPods are kept near to each other with sufficient charge. The above-mentioned features will be available to use once you install iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 Sequoia. These software are set to be released publically next week, on September 16.

That’s not it, Apple will also be releasing another significant update to the AirPods Pro 2 to bring more features such as Awareness, Prevention, Assistance, and clinical-grade Hearing Aid functionality. Read more about it by clicking here.

If you use any other AirPods model, it seems that this update does not bring much to it as all of these features are exclusive to the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4.  The AirPods Pro 2 are available to purchase for a price of $249 on Apple’s Website. You can find them at authorized resellers such as Best Buy for around $189 during the sale periods.
