In case you missed it: Iowa gets support for adding drivers licenses to Wallet app

Earlier this week, the State of Iowa got support for its citizens to add their drivers licenses and state IDs to the Wallet app.

In order to begin that process of adding their license or state ID to the Wallet app, they must open their iPhone and hit the “+” button in the top right corner of the Wallet app, then tap to add “Driver’s License or State ID” and follow the on-screen instructions to add one of those cards to the Wallet app.

Once that is done, the user has the option to access it from either their iPhone or Apple Watch. This is done so the user does not always have to use a physical ID and can be presented at TSA checkpoints such as at the Des Moines International Airport and Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Transportation has also said that businesses can accept and ID from the Wallet app via services such as Tap2iD mobile, VeriScan, and Mobile ID Verify to ensure that verification with select purchases and transactions are done throughly and legally,

With that said, the Iowa DOT has also said that the digital ID does not fully replace the physical license or ID cards at this time, but that more businesses and entities will be accepting them in time.
