Earlier this month, I took a look at my Apple Music Replay 2024 and all of the artists, songs, and overall music I listened to this year. And trust me, there was a lot of it.

So, the images below will highlight my top artists, songs, and albums I listened to in 2024:
What I will say is that even though the band Cigarettes After Sex did appear as my top artists this year, I will say that it is not a reflection of me. I mostly to that band’s music when I’m sleeping at night since their music is very mellow and dream-like.
With that said, if I had to say my top artists I found myself listening to more and more of this year, it would have to be Dennis van Aarssen. He is a singer like Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble, but with a modern twist on it.
As for the other artists, which include Cody Fry, David Archuleta, and composer Murray Gold for his work on “Doctor Who,” those were not a big shocker to me, as I listen to their music quite frequently.
My top song this year was “I Still Got It” by Dennis van Aarssen, which again, is not a huge surprise. That song was played frequently at work, in my apartment, in my car, in my AirPods, etc. It is usually a song that I listen to either because I need to feel good or want motivation.
The other songs listed there, once again, not a surprise.
Lastly, we have the albums where David Archuleta’s album “Therapy Sessions” that was originally released in 2020 was my top album again. What can I say, it’s a great album!
If I had to say what my favorite album of the year to listen to would be, I would honestly have to say it was the “Normal People” score by Stephen Rennicks. The score went along with the BBC and Hulu TV mini-series that was developed based on the original book by Sally Rooney, which I also read this year.
The reason it was my favorite one that I listened to this year is that not only is it score music, with classical music being my favorite music genre, but it has a sound that I have not heard often in music.
It is an album that you can listen to while getting tasks done at work or at home, or running errands around your area. I’d additionally say it makes you more reflective. You can feel like you are in your own TV show or movie while listening to it.
Finally, yes, I did find myself listening to two major Cody Fry albums this year, so chalk those up there. Those albums were “The End” and “Symphonic.” I will always rather be listening to some form of orchestra, symphony, or orchestral pop song than what is popular on music streaming services and FM radio.
