Apple TV 4K users can stream another NFL playoff game on Saturday in 4K

Last week, we reported that there was an opportunity for NFL fans to stream one of the NFL Wild Card playoff games in 4K. Now it looks as though that is being done with the Divisional Round this weekend too.

On Saturday, January 18, the Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions game will take place at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. The winner of the game will play in the next weekend’s NFC Championship.

When it comes to actually streaming this playoff game live in 4K on FOX, fans will have to be subscribed to a live TV streaming service such as YouTube TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, or Sling TV (Sling Blue or Sling Orange + Blue plans only, with FOX only available in select TV markets on Sling TV) which all will have a FOX 4K channel.

Those that have YouTube TV will also need to have the 4K Plus add-on for an additional $9.99 a month.

Another way to stream the game in 4K is through the Apple TV FOX Sports app. Those that use that route will have to sign in with valid TV provider credentials in order to stream the games live and in 4K from that app.

Historically speaking, the FOX Sports broadcast games available to stream in 4K are typically upscaled from 1080p. You will also need a compatible streaming device like the Apple TV 4K in order to stream these games in 4K.

It should also be noted that ABC/ESPN, CBS/Paramount+, and NBC/Peacock have no plans right now to broadcast or stream any games in 4K this weekend too.
