Pixelmator today announced that Apple has completed its acquisition of the company. The acquisition, which was announced in November 2024, has now been finalized following regulatory approval. Pixelmator, known for its popular photo-editing apps such as Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator, will see its team join Apple following the acquisition.

This acquisition marks Apple’s latest move to strengthen its creative software offerings, following a history of acquiring companies like Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the acquisition is seen as a big step for Apple to potentially expand its professional photo-editing capabilities, possibly competing more directly with tools like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

No notible changes have been made to Pixelmator apps at this time, and remains a seperate app in the App Store for iOS, iPadOS, and Mac.
