eBay has been gratefully accepting Apple Pay for a few years now. It’s one of the many payment methods the company offers its customers.
One of the many aspects of accepting Apple Pay for any business is the amount of security and encryption it offers to its users. By accepting it, it can protect eBay from customers who experience fraudulent credit or debit card purchases after they have made a purchase from eBay.
The company appears to have recently updated its iOS and iPadOS apps where when you select an item to look at, it immediately offers you the option to pay with Apple Pay.
Previously, users had to hit the “Add to Cart” button in order for them to get the option to pay with Apple Pay at the checkout. Now it’s right on the product page.
It should be noted that in my experience with testing this out, it looks currently that it is only for sales in the U.S. However, you can still use Apple Pay as a payment method on sales outside of the U.S., you just won’t get the immediate “Buy with Pay” button.
There are other apps that do offer a dedicated Apple Pay button before reaching the checkout screen. It is a feature the Etsy app has had for years.
The eBay app update this came in Version 6.211.0 that was released on Monday, June 2.
What are your thoughts on this update in the eBay app? Will it compel you to make more purchases from eBay now? Comment below or let us know on X at @appleosophy.
