Apple has just introduced a brand new product category, this time in collaboration with the iconic Japanese fashion designer ISSEY MIYAKE. Meet the “iPhone Pocket,” a unique wearable accessory designed to offer a beautiful and versatile new way to carry your iPhone.
Inspired by the concept of “a piece of cloth,” the iPhone Pocket may be that special pocket you may need in your daily life after all. It’s born from a shared design approach between Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE that, in the words of Apple’s VP of Industrial Design Molly Anderson, “celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and delight.” It’s designed to hold any iPhone model, and it even expands to fit other small essentials like your AirPods or keys.
The iPhone Pocket is meticulously crafted in Japan as it uses a singular 3D-knitted construction. This open, ribbed structure is reminiscent of ISSEY MIYAKE’s famous pleated clothing. While the pocket fully encloses the iPhone for security, the textile can be stretched, allowing you to subtly peek at your display without fully removing the device.
With versatility in mind, the iPhone Pocket is designed to be worn in multiple ways—handheld, tied onto a bag, or worn directly on the body. It comes in two styles: a short strap version available in eight playful colors (lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black) and a long strap design in three more subdued colors (sapphire, cinnamon, and black).
This is a limited-edition release, so you’ll want to act fast. The iPhone Pocket will be available starting this Friday, November 14, just in time for the holiday season. The short strap design will retail for $149.95, and the long strap design will be available for $229.95. It will be sold at select Apple Store locations and on Apple Online Store in France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the U.S.
