The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced the nominations for the 98th annual Academy Awards, and Apple Original Films has emerged with a total of six prestigious nods. Most notably, the high-octane racing epic F1 has secured a nomination for Best Picture. Beyond the top prize, the film was recognized for its technical brilliance, earning nominations for Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Editing. This recognition highlights the authentic and visceral experience created by director Joseph Kosinski and stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.

Apple’s poignant documentary, Come See Me in the Good Light, earned a nomination for Best Documentary Feature Film. This celebrates the moving story of poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley as they navigate life and love through a terminal diagnosis. Additionally, the gripping thriller The Lost Bus secured a nomination for Best Visual Effects. Directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, the film depicts a harrowing escape from a deadly wildfire.

These six nominations add to an increasingly decorated trophy cabinet for Apple Original Films. Since the service launched, Apple’s content has amassed a staggering 687 wins and over 3,000 nominations. This includes the historic 2022 Best Picture win for CODA, which made Apple the first streaming service to ever take home the Academy’s highest honor.

Apple’s leadership expressed immense pride in this year’s slate. Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video, noted that these films “evoke the exhilaration of human connection.” Meanwhile, Jamie Erlicht praised the creative team of F1 for pushing technical boundaries to deliver the most authentic racing film ever made.

If you haven’t caught these award-worthy titles yet, now is the perfect time to catch up. F1, Come See Me in the Good Light, and The Lost Bus are all currently streaming globally on Apple TV. With the winners set to be revealed on Sunday, March 15, in Los Angeles, there is plenty of time to see why these films are among the year’s best.
