Apple has started rolling out updated builds for the first betas of iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 to developers. These updates come just four days after the release of the previous build of Beta 1.

The build number for the previous Beta 1 version of iOS and iPadOS 26.5 was 23F5043g, while the new one is 23F5043k. Usually, as we progress through the beta cycle, the letter at the end of a build number is in descending order. However, this re-release of Beta 1 indicates that we might have a few more beta versions before the final launch.

This is not the first time that a beta has been re-released with a new build. Last month, Apple re-released a new build for iOS and iPadOS 26.4 Beta 3, and a public beta was also released alongside the developer version, similar to the release of iOS/iPadOS 26.5 Public Beta today.

iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 Beta 1 have re-enabled support for end-to-end encrypted RCS communication between iPhone and Android devices, added Suggested Places in Apple Maps, and more. Unfortunately, iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 Beta 1 do not include any new Apple Intelligence features as we expected previously.

We can expect the next betas to be rolled out after one week. Users who are registered as a developer on www.developer.apple.com can opt in to receive beta updates by going into Settings>General>Software Update>Beta Updates and selecting Developer Beta.

Do note that these versions are not stable and are meant for testing purposes. How excited are you about these upcoming software updates with useful new features?
