Apple rolls out iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2 with a bug fix

Apple has started rolling out iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2 to the public, with the new build number being 23G90. These updates come three weeks after the release of iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1 to the public, which included fixes to several security vulnerabilities. These updates are expected to bring more stability and a better experience for users running previous versions. According to Apple’s Release Notes, “This update fixes an issue that prevents downloading a software update over a cellular connection.” The update seems to only fix this particular bug and does not appear to have any security fixes, as there are no published entries on Apple’s security webpage. Apple is expected to release the RC version of iOS and iPadOS 27 as soon as tomorrow after the Apple event, and we can expect them to be released to the public by next week. All iPhone models that support iOS 26 will support iOS 27, while iPadOS 27 drops support for a few devices that are powered by the A12 or A12X chipsets, including the iPad (8th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), and iPad Pro (11-inch first generation). iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will still continue to receive security updates for devices that choose to stay on these versions, similar to other older versions of iOS and iPadOS.
