Apple has recently notified its employees about the increment of pay per hour wages to $22 per hour or higher based on the market. This is about a 45% increase from the wages of 2018, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The new wages will be effective in from early July.
“Supporting and retaining the best team members in the world enables us to deliver the best, most innovative, products and services for our customers. This year as part of our annual performance review process, we’re increasing our overall compensation budget.” an Apple spokesman said in a statement.
In recent times, Apple was facing labor unrest, efforts for unionization, and rising inflation in the market. Last week, Apple paused plans to call salaried workers back to the office for at least three days a week as there was a surge of COVID-19 cases in California.
