March Madness is coming and with that, the March Madness Live app is going to be getting some important features in it by the time the first game tips off, which is on Tuesday, March 14.
It was announced today by Warner Bros. Discovery that the March Madness Live app is going to be getting support for CarPlay so users can listen to the games live in their vehicles as long as they have a dashboard or device that has CarPlay functionality.
“Nearly 98% of new cars are equipped with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the U.S. For the first time, NCAA March Madness Live will have a robust product integration into these services with live game audio powered by Westwood One national feeds to keep fans who are on-the-go, in-the-know.”
Additionally, the app is getting support for Live Activities as long as the iPhone is running iOS 16.1 or newer.
“NCAA March Madness Live will greet users with an upgraded Home Screen built for better content discoverability of live streams, articles and more creating a seamless experience for users both new and old. For the first time, users will also be able to take advantage of Apple’s Live Activities feature in iOS 16.1+, that when enabled will provide interactive notifications and faster access to live games directly from the lock screen on their mobile devices.”
For iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users, they’ll be able to see the live games show up through Live Activities on the device’s Dynamic Island.
As usual, once March Madness Live users sign in with their TV provider, they can stream live games through the app on their iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, as well as see live scores and which channel the game is being broadcast shown on with its Apple Watch app. Apple TV users will be able to stream multiple live games at once too.
Games are said to be shot in 1080p and in 5.1 surround sound, according to Engadget. None of the games are said to be broadcast in 4K this year.
CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV will be broadcasting the games, with the CBS games being available to stream live on Paramount+.
