Sling TV has changed the game recently in the live TV streaming world with a few updates it has launched this week.
The company announced over its blog this week that it has added the following updates to its service:
iOS Widgets:
Now users have the ability to see their TV guide right from a widget. Users can either have a two-row or four-row column set up in their widget that will show the channel guide. There is additionally the customization option where they can choose their favorite channels in the widget and what they are showing at that time.
Sports Scores:
This is an updated feature that shows at the home page of the Sling TV app and showcases the real-time scores of games currently being played.
Here is how Sling TV explained the improved feature:
“In addition to our previously released vertical sports scores (also pictured above and now available on all major devices), the home page of the Sling TV app will feature a dedicated row with live scores, enabling users to check all of the live matchups and jump to the most competitive games. To switch games, just highlight the score of the game you’d like to see and click the “select button” to start watching!”

Lastly, the final feature to be launched by Sling TV for desktop users is called “Side View” and enables users to stream live sporting events, TV shows, and movies on the side of their screen while getting other tasks done on their computer.
Here is how users can activate the feature:
“To launch the Side Stream feature, click the button that says, ‘Browse your computer while watching video,’ in the top right corner of the player to launch the pop out window. The new player can be moved and will remain on top of whatever page or application you have open.”
Sling TV is currently $40 a month and is available to stream on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.
