Apple has started rolling out tvOS 16.6 to the public with important security improvements. This update addresses 8 WebKit and kernel vulnerabilities to keep your Apple TV secure.

tvOS 16.6 comes a month and six days after the release of tvOS 16.5 which brought support for multiview to Apple TV 4K. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every tvOS update by fixing bugs and security flaws. tvOS 16.6 is compatible with both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K so users can update their compatible Apple TV by going into Settings>System>Software Updates.

Along with tvOS 16.6, Apple also released iOS 16.6, iPadOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, and watchOS 9.6 to the public with bug fixes and several important security updates.

There seem to be no new major features on tvOS 16.6, as it could be one of the last updates to tvOS 16 featuring refinements and improvements across the system. The upcoming major update to tvOS – tvOS 17 is expected to be released to the public in September with included support for Dolby Vision 8.1, third-party VPNs, revamped Control Center, new Screen Savers, and finally, FaceTime. Users will also be able to handoff calls from their iPhone or iPad to their Apple TV with support for Center Stage.

It is highly recommended to update your Apple TV to the latest software for the best experience and the best security. Did you find any new features in this update?
