Soon after Apple announced additions to the iPhone and Apple Watch lineup at its “Wonderlust” event, they started rolling out the Release Candidate Versions of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 with important bug fixes and refinements, according to Apple’s Developer Webpage. These updates come three weeks after the release of iOS 17 & iPadOS 17 beta 8.

iOS 17 brings in a ton of new features and changes including a new Live Voicemail Feature, personalized Contact Posters, NameDrop Interactive Widgets, Standby Mode, precise search filters, and more. On the other hand, iPadOS 17 includes a new Lock Screen, a new PDF Experience, Health App, and more.

The new Release Candidate version includes a ton of new ringtones and notification tones for a fresh new experience. The old tones are still present under the “Classic” section if you prefer those. There are also some notable differences in the new default “Reflection” Ringtone.

The build number of these updates is 21A329 and you can expect the size of the update to be around 6GB – 7GB on your iPhone & iPad. The size of the update depends upon the device that you have and the software version you’re updating from. There’s no letter at the end of the build number, which signifies that this could be the final version of iOS 17 & iPadOS 17 which will be released to the public unless they release a second Release Candidate version.

Users who are registered as a developer on www.developer.apple.com or a public beta tester on www.beta.apple.com can opt-in to receive beta updates by going into Settings>General>Software Update>Beta Updates and selecting iOS 17 Developer/Public Beta or iPadOS 17 Developer/Public Beta.

Along with iOS 17 & iPadOS 17 RC, Apple also released the Release Candidate Versions of iOS 16.7, iPadOS 16.7, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS Sonoma.
