Apple Pay support now available in Paraguay

It was announced earlier this week in a blog post from MasterCard that Apple Pay support is now live in Paraguay.

The first banks to begin supporting Apple Pay are Banco Continental, Itaú, and Ueno Bank. Members of those financial institutions must add their cards to their iPhone via the Wallet app.

After the card is added, users will have the ability to access from their iPhone and/or Apple Watch for in-store purchases. They’ll also have the ability to access it on devices like an iPhone, iPad, or Mac for online transactions.

Federico Cofman, Mastercard’s Cluster Leader for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, said this will be great for the people of Paraguay.

“We are delighted to work with our issuers to bring the ease, security and privacy of Apple Pay to consumers in Paraguay,” he said. “This launch reinforces Mastercard’s commitment to offering innovative solutions for people to choose how they want to pay.”

Other notable countries in South America that have added Apple Pay support are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia.
