Apple will be releasing watchOS 27 on September 14th, with notable new features such as a new Dynamic App Grid, a new Siri, a new single-tap gesture, and more. You can read the full list of new features here.
However, these come at the cost of the removal of two features, including:
- Multitasking: With watchOS 26 and earlier, users could double-click the Digital Crown to enter the multitasking app menu, where they could switch between apps or close them if required. With watchOS 27, this menu is missing, and it is not a bug. This feature has been missing throughout the betas, and it seems to mark the removal of this feature for unspecified reasons.
- Walkie-Talkie: This is an interesting feature that debuted back in 2018 with watchOS 5 and allowed Apple Watch users to communicate with each other similar to a walkie-talkie, but watchOS 27 has marked the removal of this feature.

There’s one more change in watchOS 27 that might bother users, and it is the fact that the new Dynamic App Grid, featuring five suggested apps, now always comes before the main app grid upon clicking the Digital Crown from the watch face. Apple might add a toggle to turn this off in the future, but until then, there’s no way to disable this behaviour.
