Opinion: My Two Most Anticipated Features of macOS Sierra

Avatar for Austin Dean

Just last month at Apple’s WWDC event, the company unveiled the new Mac operating system, which will be called macOS Sierra. With this update came many new features, but there are a couple that I have my eye on that I think will make the Mac experience even better than what it already is.
The first feature is Siri for Mac. Despite the fact that Microsoft has had Cortana on Windows 10 for the past year, Siri on the Mac is something that Mac users have been waiting for a long time now, and right now is a great time to do so. It will work very similar to the way how it is used on iOS and the Apple Watch, by means of asking and searching for things like the weather or directions to the nearest Apple Store, but can do more advanced things such as searching for documents and files.
My second favorite feature coming to macOS this fall is Apple Pay. I have been using Apple Pay for the past few months via my iPhone 6 and absolutely love it. It definitely improves the shopping experience, whether it be in-person or online. Apple Pay on the Mac will also allow for safer online shopping on sites like Target. One of the nice things about Apple Pay is that it is heavily encrypted, meaning that your iPhone does not have the credit/debit card data, Apple does not have it, and the store where you are purchasing from does not get that information either. You as the customer are completely safe from hackers and intruders who want to get into your money and steal it.
Although these are not huge changes like we have seen in the past, they are definitely still features to get excited about. In other words, they will still change the way people use their Macs everyday, and that is what Apple does. They know what you want before you know you want it. That has always been part of their legacy and macOS Sierra will be no different.
