How to Stream 2018 Midterm Election Coverage

Avatar for David Becker

The midterm election is today here in the United States. You’re probably wondering how you’ll be able to watch news coverage from your devices…for free…legally.

There are some great and free ways to watch the final results of the midterm elections this year. Here are some following options:

First of all, you may want to look into getting a free trial or simply signing up for a subscription of a live TV streaming service. Providers such as Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV, DirecTV NOW and PlayStation Vue all have plans that contain news networks in them. The cheapest one for the money is Sling TV, which starts at $25 a month.

For free methods, one of the best places to go to is Pluto TV. It is a free service and app in the App Store that is essentially free TV on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Pluto TV has live networks such as CBS News, Newsmax TV, MSNBC (not live but in clips) Bloomberg and Cheddar that will have midterm election coverage all throughout the day.

The next spot to go to will consist of apps like ABC News and CBS News. They both have apps that will contain live streams to a news broadcast. NBC will also have free live streaming options on the NBC News and MSNBC websites, along with the apps for those networks too.

According to Vulture, CNN will be lifting their cable restrictions at 5 PM EST, so that means online viewers will be able to view their coverage on their website and CNNgo app.

FOX News and FOX Business will have live streams available. However, unlike the other popular news networks, you will have to sign in with your TV provider in order to stream it. Of course, you can easily do this from signing up for a live TV streaming service like the ones I listed above.

Lastly, if you are one of those people that want to view your local news’s coverage of the midterm elections based on your neck of the woods, be sure to check out the NewsON app. The app allows for you to see certain local TV station broadcasts. It will only work for local ones that they have an agreement or partnership with and is not guaranteed to be in your area, but it is still our top option for streaming your local TV station’s coverage.

NewsON is available on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV as a free app and local streaming service.
