In celebration of National Grammar Day, we are going to review the Grammarly service. Note that we will not be reviewing it based off their apps’ functions, but more so on the overall quality of the service.
Grammarly is great service that has both free and premium versions of their service. What Grammarly does is essentially have another set of eyes on your writing. This can be used for writing emails, papers, social media and many other useful platforms.
I have been using Grammarly for at least the last five years and it has made my life so much easier. From blogging on my personal blog, to writing for TeamApple News before I came here and to also now using it for Appleosophy as an editor for my work being sent from MarsEdit to WordPress. I have used it in the past to edit other peoples’ work too.
What makes the service great is that it is available on most common browsers, with those being Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox, as well as being available on the Mac and Windows.
The only couple of things that I do not like about the service is that you cannot change the format that you are writing with. This means that if I want to write in AP format, you cannot do that and Grammarly will constantly underline your sentences where you do lists and do not put in the Oxford comma.
My other complaint about the service is that it does not have integration with Pages and that it can be integrated with Microsoft Word, but only the Windows version of it and not the Mac version. I should also point out that users cannot use the service on Google Drive either.
Still, the company does have an app for the Mac that is available on their website and also has an app in the App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad that makes is so that your spelling and grammar can be better.
All in all, the service gets 3/4 stars from me. It is a reliable service that can make your spelling and grammar look better. I’d recommend this product to everyone that I know, including my readers.
