Apple exceeds sustainable energy goals

Apple persuades 15 more of its suppliers  including Foxconn and TSMC to use only renewable energy  when making iPhones. Its a really huge thing keeping in mind that 74% of Apple’s  carbon footprint comes from its suppliers.

Apple suppliers are going green at a faster rate than what Apple has expected, allowing the tech giant to easily surpass its goal of bringing 4GW of renewable energy by 2020, and Apple also says that it will have  more than  5GW of clean energy powering the supply chain that helps to supply its products.

Earlier this year, Apple said in one of its filings that it considers climate change to present a risk to its business operations. Apple also spends  up to 2.5 billion on environmental sustainability programs and has contributed to 40 different environmental initiatives around the world.

I personally feel that the example that Apple is setting should be followed by all companies around the world. A sustainable life is a sustainable future.

“Every time one of our suppliers joins us in our efforts to address climate change, we move closer to a better future for the next generation. We’ve made it a priority to hold our suppliers accountable to the same environmental standards we observe and hope that our collaboration will show others what is possible. While we are proud of our announcement today, we won’t stop driving change within our industry to support the clean energy transition happening globally.”
