One year with AirPods

Last year on Black Friday, I went out and purchased a pair of AirPods at my local Best Buy.

At the time, I was trying to get rid of my old Beats Solo headphones that had some damage from wear and tear over the years, as well as the fact that they felt too bulky and  I was looking for something more minimalistic and Bluetooth compatible.

I have used the AirPods almost every single day since purchasing them.

My favorite feature of them is that they are so portable. There have been days where all I have had to do is put them in the pocket of my pants or laptop bag and I am good to go for the day.

However, being able to pair them to my Apple TV HD and watch my TV shows on the big screen without disturbing anyone in the room this year has been a big plus too.

Of course, one of the most important parts of AirPods, if not the most important part, is the sound quality. I can proudly say that for the size of these things, that the sound quality is quite impressive, including the bass. There have been times when I would rather listen to a song from my AirPods over my iPhone 8 Plus with its stereo speakers because the AirPods, in my opinion, still sound better.

I also like that they have touch controls on the side. All I have to do is tap the right AirPod twice and the song changes to the next one, it’s that simple.

Taking calls on them is incredibly convenient because I tend to pace when I am on the phone, so instead of holding up my iPhone the entire time while in a phone call (that can sometimes take 2-3 hours), I can use my AirPods for the majority of the time and manage the call from them.

Battery life is exceptional, with them lasting for quite a while. To make it better, they charge quickly too. There have been times when I have been using them to make a call and will be on said call for a couple of hours. When I put them back in their charging case at 10 percent battery, they are fully charged in about 10-15 minutes. That’s not bad at all for someone like me who now prefers to take phone calls from my AirPods.

I have felt so confident taking calls from AirPods over this last year that there have been times this year where I have taken job interview phone calls from them without the interviewer even knowing. That’s how reliable they are when it comes to their sound quality and how clear their microphones are.

Lastly, even though Apple has released two newer versions of the AirPods since I purchased my pair last year, I have felt no need to upgrade to the newer versions. These things work well, have great sound quality and do their job being wireless earphones.

If you are someone who is in the market and has been thinking about getting a pair for yourself or someone you really care about, AirPods are a product I will always recommend. Yes, they have a bit of social status to them and make you look like you’re richer than you are, but the overall functionality is where they shine and it is the most important part of the product.

AirPods can currently be purchased through retailers like Best Buy for $144.99, which is a $15 discount off the regular price.

For those that can wait less than a week, Walmart will have the AirPods with Charging Case for $129 online and in their stores for Black Friday 2019. Click here to see that deal and others from their 2019 Black Friday ad.

AirPods have changed my life for the better and I cannot wait to get new pairs in the future to see just how much they will change my life.
