How much storage do I need for my iPhone?
Storage is measured in gigabytes (GB), and the more gigabytes your device has, the more room you have to store digital content like apps, music, movies, photos, books, and more. If you mainly use streaming services like Apple Music or online storage options like iCloud, an iPhone with a smaller storage capacity may be right for you. But if you have a large collection of content or frequently download movies, TV shows, or music that you like to keep on your device, it’s a good idea to consider an iPhone with a larger storage capacity.
Unfortunately, storage on iPhone’s are not upgradable later.
Common sizes are 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB. Heres a few numbers.
- A standard iPhone configuration uses approximately 6GB for iOS and built-in apps
- 1000 photos take up about 1.5-2GB
- 5 minutes of 4K video takes up 1.5-2GB
- An average iTunes HD movie takes up about 2GB
- 250 iTunes songs take up around 1GB
32GB & 64GB is good for those who are doing internet browsing, and not downloading to much content. 128GB & 256GB is good for those who will be downloading some photos, videos, and a good amount of apps.
We do not suggest the 32GB model if you plan on taking pictures with the device, we would recommend a minimum of 64GB.
